Buhler Versatile, a division of Buhler Industries Inc. (TSX: BUI) will unveil the new series of Versatile four-wheel drive tractors at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY.
“Buhler is responding to customer demands for four-wheel drive tractors with a bigger cab and more weight in the 300 to 400 horsepower range,” explains Eric Allison, Director of Tractor Sales for Buhler Versatile. “This new tractor has a longer wheelbase, more fuel capacity and a bigger cooling package than the outgoing model. It also has the same cab and cab options as the successful High Horsepower Tractor range, which means more interior space and an available training seat. ”
Available in 305, 340, 375 and 400 horsepower, the new Versatile joins the High Horsepower Tractor Series (435-535 horsepower) in the Buhler four-wheel drive lineup. All Buhler four-wheel drives are powered by reliable Cummins engines; the new Versatile 305-400 horsepower tractors feature the Cummins QSM11 11-litre engine with a 7% power bulge and 35% torque rise. These engines are Tier 3 compliant and meet the Tier 3 N0x emissions requirements and are approved for B20 biodiesel.
Two transmissions are available. A mechanical Quadshift 12 x 4 transmission features four synchronized sequential gears in each of its three ranges and is standard equipment. An optional 12 x 2 powershift transmission is available, featuring single-lever control that provides clutchless shifting and simple gear selection for smooth operation. Road speed has been increased – the mechanical transmission now reaches a maximum speed of 22 MPH (35 KM/H).
The hydraulic system has true load sensing tandem piston pumps and a total capacity of 50 GPM (190 l/min). An optional high flow hydraulics package increases capacity to 75 GPM (290 l/min). Four hydraulic remote outlets are standard; six are optional.
The grille area is 17% larger than the outgoing model for better airflow and cooling. Fuel capacity is increased to 250 gallons (946 liters) from 230 gallons (870 liters).
The new cab features significant improvements in size and convenience options. The cab is 8” wider than the outgoing model and is now available with an optional training seat. The deluxe cab package has a heated active-suspension seat, electronic automatic climate control, front and rear windshield wipers and washers, power remote heated external mirrors and front and rear sunvisors.
The new Versatile 305-400 horsepower tractor will be available in limited quantities in May 2008.
